Paulien & Associates, Inc. prepared a detailed analysis of the space needs for the Department of Astrophysical, Planetary, and Atmospheric Sciences (APAS) which includes two major research centers, one of which constructs space instruments.  Paulien & Associates also prepared a detailed application of state guidelines to the Department of Physics to show their additional space needs as part of a proposal to build an addition to the building they occupied.

As part of the project team, Paulien & Associates developed the program plan for the Science Library on the CU-Boulder Campus.  The program plan included a space needs analysis, a concept phase describing the building envelope, and a final formal document that met the Colorado Commission on Higher Education requirements including a budget and schedule for the project.

Paulien & Associates also prepared a program plan for the renovation and upgrading of existing laboratory space in the east wing of the Ekeley Sciences Building, the conversion of space in the west wing of the Cristol Chemistry Building to Biochemistry laboratory space, two facilities program plans for the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy (CASA) research unit at the University of Colorado, the partial Ekeley renovation that included an addition for the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Services (CIRES), two facilities program plans for this space science research unit at the University of Colorado, for five special research units at the University of Colorado including the Biochemistry Division of the Department of Chemistry, for five special research units at the University of Colorado including the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), and several facilities program plans for special research units at the University of Colorado including the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES).
